Gunshot Is Investigated; Burglary Warrants Taken
On October 25, Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a shooting on Bonner Street.
Deputies arrived on scene and found the victim with a single gunshot wound to her left shoulder.
Deputies assisted the victim and stopped the bleeding until EMS arrived on scene, according to a report from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO). The victim was transported to the Medical Center in Macon and remains in stable condition. After speaking with witness and the victim, investigators are following up on information that was received.
Previously, on October 15, Jasper County Sheriff’s deputies responded to a residence at 8936 Post Road in regards to a possible burglary. Upon their arrival it was clear that the residence had been broken into. Several firearms, tools and other items were taken.
Investigators and the Crime Suppression Unit have been working the case since the beginning and have already located a significant portion of the victim’s belongings.
Warrants have already been issued for the following suspects: Robert Pope, James Robert Lackey, Angela Slaughter Lackey, Melinda Hill, Richard Hill and Adam Glanton. This investigation is still ongoing and may lead to other suspects.
Other incidents investigated by the JCSO in the last week include a burglary on Pitts Chapel Road, the theft of pills from a vehicle at the Dairy Queen, and the theft of a pressure washer from a County Line Road address.

•Melinda Beth Hill, 37, Shady Dale—theft by receiving stolen property, drugs not in original container, maintaining a disorderly house and probation violation.
•Jason Dwayne Strawder, 31, Monticello — Jasper County Superior Court, bench warrant.
•James Lawrence Alford, 36, Eatonton—probation violation.
•Willie Nelson Benjamin, 53, Monticello—battery.
•Willie Frank Sanders, 67, Monticello—battery.
•Martha Sue Pompey, 55, Monticello—disorderly conduct and obstruction of a law enforcement officer.
•Robert Neal Anthony, 38, Jackson — probation violation.
•Victoriano Garcia Chavez, 26, Shady Dale — driving without a valid license and failure to maintain lane.
•Richard Kevin Hill, 52, Shady Dale—burglary.
•Clayton Qavaris McCrary, 29, Macon—Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.
•John Wesley Davis, 41, Newborn—removing or affixing license plate with intent to conceal and no insurance.
In other activity in the last week, deputies responded to 485 calls for service, including 141 checking location, 82 stopping suspicious person vehicle, 38 direct traffic, 24 serve civil papers, 23 subject needs officer, 22 sex offender check, 16 mechanical breakdown, 13 alarm, 11 each trouble unknown and assist motorist, nine attempt to serve warrant, and more.
