Several Are Sentenced in Court
Jasper Superior Court was kept very busy in October on motion day Tuesdays. The following cases were reviewed over two sessions, October 20 under the jurisdiction of Judge Hugh Wingfield, III, and October 13 under the jurisdiction of Judge William A. Prior.
The October 20 docket yielded the following judgements:
Keifer Wood, for failure to participate in the probation residential substance abuse treatment center the defendant was adjudged guilty and resentenced to 15 years of confinement with nine to serve but sentence was suspended upon acceptance and completion of the integrated treatment program.
Shirley Wise Benton, sentenced to entry and completion of an inpatient treatment program within three months or serve 60 days in jail for new offense of disorderly conduct.
Robert Eulis Grimsley, sentenced to entry and completion of inpatient treatment program within three months or serve 60 days in jail for testing positive for alcohol.
Clarence Price, III, ordered to pay court fines or serve 28 days in jail for failure to make court fines and new offense of theft by receiving stolen property and speeding.
October 13 judgements included:
Steven James Barker, three years of probation for three counts including possession of methamphetamine, giving false information to a law enforcement officer, and possession of drug related objects, $800 fine.
Shay Palmer Shelton, two years of probation for possession of methamphetamine, $700 fine.
Akeem Jamaul Miller, 12 months of probation for possession of marijuana, $500 fine.
Nicole Starr Anderson, 12 months of probation for disorderly conduct, $400 fine.
Jerome Lamar Reid, 12 months of probation for battery, $500 fine.
Thomas Robert Anderson, 12 months of probation for two counts of disorderly conduct, $400 fine.
Angie Nicole West, 12 months of probation for disorderly conduct, $300 fine.
Richard Davis Johnson, II, 12 months of probation for possession of marijuana and failure to maintain lane, $450 fine.
Christian Blair Mason, 12 months of probation for possession of drug related objects and violation of limited driving permit, $400 fine.
Oct. 13 probation revocations:
Joshua Davis, sentenced to 60 days in Jasper County jail upon release must serve on probation for six months and receive mental health evaluation after committing new offense of giving false information in Rockdale County in September 2015.
Jerome Sorapuru, III, sentenced to 64 days in Jasper County jail with suspension upon full payment of court fines in arrears for failure to report to probation office, failure to make court fines, and failure to complete community service.
Amanda Sue Custer, sentenced to 60 days at Jasper County jail for positive drug test in October 2015.
Julius Lamar Martin, sentenced to 60-90 days in probation detention center for new offense of battery and possession of marijuana in Atlanta.
Alicia Marie Cates, sentenced to substance abuse center for new offense of possession of methamphetamine, marijuana, and drug related objects in Jasper County while also testing positive for drugs.
Sheila Roselle Dennis, sentence to 60 days in Jasper County jail with credit for time served for driving under the influence charge in Jasper County in August 2015.
Donovan Sands, ordered to pay $600 and perform community service by December 1 or return to court for further action for failure to adhere to probation terms.
Jeremy Gower, given 90 days to pay fines in arrears or return to court for further action.
Ricky Gilstrap, balance of probation revoked to the penal system for new offense of theft by receiving stolen property, driving while license suspended and registration revoked in Newton County.
David Nash, sentenced to 90-120 days in state probation detention center for failure to adhere to probation terms.
