Kasey Hall Wins Football Contest

ED HALL (L), JUSTIN DEARRO

Football fanatic and long-time football contest player Kasey Hall beat out more than 100 others to win the football contest last week, sponsored by Covington Ford of Monticello.

Unfortunately, Mrs. Hall was out of town Monday when the photo was made, so she sent her husband, Ed Hall, to collect her prize and have his photo made. He collected a $25 prize from Justin Dearro at Covington Ford. Justin’s boss, Wes Crowe, is a big Georgia Tech fan, and maybe didn’t want to have his picture made with someone who picked Georgia to win that match-up, which Georgia did.

Mrs. Hall correctly guessed the winner not only of the Georgia game, but of 12 other games as well. She and three others had 13 right, but she was closest on the tie-breaker of 20. She guessed 47 points would be scored, and everyone else with 13 right guessed more.

Others getting 13 right included Don Kelly, Madison Rae and Marene Brazil (a previous winner from this year). In addition, 11 more people correctly picked 12 right to also have their names added to the grand prize honor roll.

At the end of the contest, everyone who has qualified for the grand prize will have their names put into a drawing for four premium tichets to teh Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve. The numbers by the names on the honor roll, listed on page 11, show how many chances each person has. Thos with no number have one chance so far.

This week gives players another chance at a $25 prize, this time from Venture Medical Associates, and another chance to get on the honor roll for the grand prize.

All that is required is to pick the winner of the 15 games listed, and guess a tie-breaker score for game number one. Whoever has the most correct picks, subject to the tie-breaker, will be the winner next week and have his or her photograph featured on the front page of The Monticello News. Entires must be at The News office, 247 West Washington Street, by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 4. They may also be faxed to 706-468-6576. Please write legibly. Contest is on page 11 of today’s paper.
