Mother Mattie Moreland Glover

A homegoing celebration for Mother Mattie Moreland Glover, who died December 9, 2015, was held Saturday, Dec. 12, at New Life Outreach Christian Center in Eatonton. Elder James S. Kilgore, Sr., pastor and euologist; Bishop Nolan T. Torbert, Sr., presiding. Burial was in South View Cemetery in Monticello.

Pallbearers were Bruce Glover, Adam Glover, Willie Moreland, Jimmy Moreland, Melton Torbert, Tyree Torbert, Keyo Stinson and Felix Bell.

Mother Glover was born September 15, 1924, in Jasper County, the daughter of the late Lula Moreland and Gus Moreland, Sr.

She attended Jasper County public schools and resided in Jasper County all her life. Though she was a widow at an early age, she was a strong Christian woman who worked very hard and was dedicated to taking care of her family. She joined teh Community Church of Jesus at an early age and received the Baptism of the Holy Ghost. She later joined beloved New Life Outreach Christian Center in Eatonton.

Mother Mattie Glover was preceded in ddath by her four brothers, Henry Moreland, Will Moreland, Gus Moreland, Jr., and Johnny Moreland; two children, Ruby Lee Glover and Bertha Kate Glover, and a son-in-law, Charles Jordan.

She leaves behind to cherish her memories and to prias eGod for her unfeigned faith six chidlren, Annie Ruth Glover, Bessie Mae Glover, both of Monticello; Minister Tommy James (Christine) Glover of Shady Dale, a devoted and caring son and also her personal caregiver, Henry Franklni Glover of Monticello, who retired from teh Navy and was totally committed to takaing care of mom, Doris Jordan of Eatonotn and Gail Diane (Bishop Nolan) Torbert of Auburn, Ala; sister-in-law, Katherine Moreland of HartLou Moreland of Hartford, Ct., Vickie Reed of Albany, Deborah Willmann of Mauk, and Valerie Johnson of Eatonton; four nephews, Wilie Moreland, Jimmy (Costella) Moreland, Michael Rooks, all of Monticello, and Tony Moreland of Mt. Vernon, NY; three grandchildren, Lee Marvin Glover of Aiken, S>C., Bruce (Melinda) Glover of Montnicello, Nolan Tyrone (Deunta) Torbert, Jr. of Auburn, Ala., Deana LaSha Torbert of Auburn, Ala., and Myra Chantil Jordan of Laurens, S.C.; two great-grandchidlren, Bruce Adam Glover, Jr., of Monticello and Nolan Tyrone (Tre) Torbert III, of Auburn, Ala., and a host of nieces, nephews, relatives and friends.

Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
