AT&T Towers Are Operational

AT&T has added six new cell towers to its 4G LTE network in Jasper to give customers faster, more reliable wireless service, according to an announcement from AT&T.

In addition to the cell site added in Shady Dale in 2014, six new towers were constructed and put on air in 2015. Three are located north and south of Monticello on Hwy. 83. The others are on Hwy. 212 going towards Milledgeville, on Hwy. 16 at the Butts County line and on Post Road in the northern part of the county. Combined with the five already existing sites, AT&T now covers the vast majority of Jasper County, the announcement said.

“Our customers in Jasper County will be able to make calls, send texts and use all of the assets of our wireless 4G LTE network, in areas where service didn’t previously exist.” said Paul Chambers, Director of External Affairs, AT&T. “We’re always working to provide better coverage. And this significant investment in Jasper County is just more of that.”

“A special thanks goes to State Rep. Susan Holmes, and the Jasper County Commission and staff for working to get these sites approved and on air,” added Mr. Chambers. “Local governments can assist this kind of investment by seeing the need for such access and working with providers. The folks in Jasper County did just that.”

According to independent testing, AT&T has the nation’s strongest LTE signal, and the nation’s most reliable LTE network. Over the last six years (2009-2014), AT&T invested nearly $140 billion including investments in its wireless and wireline networks and acquisitions of wireless spectrum and operations.

Since 2009, AT&T has invested more in the U.S. than any other public company. In 2014, the Progressive Policy Institute ranked AT&T No. 1 on its list of U.S. “Investment Heroes,” the announcement said.
