MS Cougars Win Again

Piedmont Academy’s Middle School boys basketball team continued its recent winning ways with a 50-35 victory against Briarwood Academy on the road in Warrenton Friday.

A 21-point performance by Owen Brady helped lead the Cougars, who jumped out to a 17-3 lead after the first quarter. Brady scored five points in the game’s first quarter and then added eight more in the second.

Teammate Tate Marks continued his strong play with 12 points. Browning Benton also finished the contest in double figures with a 12-point effort.

Cameron Mobley (three points) and Dawson Coe (two points) also helped lead the Cougars to a victory.

In Middle School girls action, the Lady Cougars played well despite falling 26-19 to Briarwood.

Ava Anglin and Haley Ann Frank both finished with six points to lead the Piedmont girls against Briarwood while Sydney Stroud scored four points and Malynne Webb finished with two. Katherine Haase made a first quarter free throw.

The Middle School boys were also in action Saturday and earned a 46-21 victory against The Heritage School of Newnan. Brady’s 17 points helped lead the team to the win. Browning finished with nine points while Marks scored eight and Ryan Holder contributed six. Dylan Coe (three points), Dawson Coe (two points) and Caleb Coffey (one point) also contributed offensively.

Piedmont’s Middle School boys fell to Brentwood 41-37 Tuesday on the road in a game which went down the final buzzer. Marks and Brady once again led the team with 13 and 11 points respectively.

Coffey added eight points while Dylan Coe scored five. Piedmont trailed 29-25 after the third quarter and 19-14 at halftime.

Piedmont’s Middle School teams will host George Walton Academy on Tuesday, Jan. 26, beginning at 3:30 p.m. It will be the first contest for the MS Lady Cougars since the Briarwood game
