JV Cougars Lose to Briarwood

The Piedmont Academy junior varsity boys basketball team came up just shy of victory Friday against Briarwood.

In the end, the Cougars fell 46-42 in a home contest in which Tate Marks finished with 16 points. Marks and Briarwood’s Conner Corbitt, who had a game-high 28 points, both had strong offensive performances.

Piedmont led 11-8 after the first quarter and 23-19 at halftime. It wasn’t until the end of the third quarter that saw Briarwood hold a two-point lead at 30-28. The Buccaneers then used a 16-14 fourth quarter to preserve the win.

Jackson Waddleton and Talon Anglin both finished with six points for the Cougars while Sam Wright, Owen Brady and J.T. Webb each scored four points. Browning Benton added a basket in the second quarter.
