Rare Coca-Cola Bottles Are Found

Local Contractor TSM Contractors LLC, has been commissioned by Evercore Insurance to completely remodel a building on the square of Monticello located at 234 Forsyth St., the former Trading Post.
During the course of exploratory demolition, workers found a group of antique bottles circa 1915 underneath the floor boards. After consulting some experts on rare bottles, it was found that the Coca-Cola bottles embossed with Monticello GA are in fact rare and valuable.
So far, there have been bottles discovered embossed with Monticello, Eatonton, Milledgeville and Macon, Ga, along with some out of state bottlers.
Due to the rarity and local history of the bottles the proprietors of Evercore Insurance in conjunction with TSM Contractors have decided to keep the finds local. Evercore Insurance will display most of the bottles along with other items found during the demolition in the front lobby of the newly remodeled building.
TSM contractors was allowed to keep some of the bottles and offered to loan them to the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce for public display.
“We have had numerous members of the public stop by and ask about the bottles since word has spread about their discovery,” said Joseph Hinton of TSM Contractors. “TSM Contractors would like to remind the public that the building is still in the construction phase and is not a safe location. We ask that interested collectors, historians and members of the public, please wait until the bottles are on display.”
The bottles have been moved to another location for clean-up and to be out of the way during remodeling.
