Cougar Tennis Begins

Piedmont Academy’s varsity tennis teams will begin the 2016 season Thursday, March 17, against Monsignor Donovan in Athens.

The Lady Cougars have several players on their roster this spring. Competing for the varsity girls will be seniors Summer Collins, Alicia Peek, Matti Smith and Haley Tyler along with juniors Makennah Holifield and Bailyn Whitaker.

Sophomores competing include Grayson Bradley, Ivy English, Kylie Garner, Anne Marie Hildebrandt, Railey Holloway, Taylor Patterson and Mikayla Rigsby. Freshmen will include Katherine Cunningham, Sydney Davis, Emma Kate Edwards, Gracie Hunt, Savannah Mote, Rylee Owens and Ryn Smith.

Junior Danny Ramsdell and senior Steve Martin will take the court for the varsity boys.

Piedmont’s tennis players are working toward the Region 4-AA tournament, which will be April 11 at Brentwood. The Cougars and Lady Cougars are coached by Elizabeth Davis.
