Wesley Sparks Seeks School Board Post

WESLEY SPARKS

Wesley Sparks has qualified to run for Jasper County School Board, Post 4, the post being vacated by Paul Kelly at the end of this term in December.

Mr. Sparks moved to Jasper County when he was in seventh grade, and is a 1984 graduate of Jasper County High School. While in school he was active in FFA four years, served as a state officer for FFA, and competed on the tree identification team that went to state. He attended Georgia College & State University in Milledgeville before starting his own business, Circle S Enterprises. His company is both a farming operation and a grading business. He raises beef cattle, commercial and registered, Angus and Simmental.

Mr. Sparks, and his wife of 21 years, the former Leslie Davis, have a son, Cody who is a high school junior. Mrs. Sparks is a graduate of Piedmont Academy. They are active members of Monticello Baptist Church.

Mr. Sparks said he is seeking office because we need conservative, common-sense values on the school board. He said he has been encouraged to run by many of his associates.

Mr. Sparks said the more we can educate our children, the better chance they have in life. He said he is in favor of a 180-day school year.

Mr. Sparks served on the oversight committee last year that was formed to make suggestions on priorities for the school system. Each school board member named two citizens to serve on the committee. He said that service enlightened him a lot, especially in understanding the financial issues facing the schools.

Mr. Sparks said he will use all the knowledge he has to make the best decision he can for the schools. He said he feels he can be an asset to the board. “I’ll get all the facts, then make a decision about what is best,” he said. “If conservative, common-sense values is what you’re looking for in leadership, then I’m the man for the job,” he said.

Mr. Sparks can be reached at 706-717-1467.
