B-Team Cougars Fall to Gatewood

The Piedmont Academy B-Team Diamond Cougars dropped a 7-3 contest against Gatewood in Eatonton Monday.

The host Gators took a 7-0 lead after the third inning before Piedmont put two runs on the scoreboard in the top of the fourth and then added another run in the top of the sixth. The Cougars left six runners on base.

Dalton Whitley worked the first two innings on the pitcher’s mound and recorded one strikeout before Chase Porter pitched the next four innings. Porter also had one strikeout and allowed just two hits.

Offensively, Caleb Coffey, Nate Miller, Clayton Carter, Tate Marks and Porter led Piedmont at the plate. Brett Bush had two RBI while Porter had one.

Gatewood’s Brayden Hill earned the win after pitching the first four innings.
