Hurricane Soccer Dominates Macon Co.

“I am so proud of my girls! They have worked hard for their win!” exclaimed Jasper County High School girls’ soccer coach, Amanda Paulk.

In an amazing display of athleticism the Lady Canes dominated last Thursday’s game against the Macon County Bulldogs with the final score of 9-1.

Star Caldwell scored three goals in the first half and one in the second while Christian Caldwell scored four goals, one with an assist by Star Caldwell. Calie Batson netted a goal amid cheers from the crowd while first time goalie Kaitlin Williams kept Macon County at bay as she skillfully blocked them from scoring.

The Canes boys’ soccer team also won 5-0 in a brilliant game of offense and defense against Macon County.

In the first half Jovani Gonzales, with a timely assist from Jose Luis Bautista, scored the first goal. The competition was fierce as Gonzales again scored before the end of the first half.

Noe Ortiz scored at the beginning of the second for a 3-0 lead. Than Ivan Sanchez, with a skillful maneuver, sent the ball flying into the opponent’s goal thereby netting another point. Crescenio Perez scored a final goal through a penalty kick; and, at the last minute, Hurricane goalie Rafael Perez, displayed amazing dexterity as he dove to block Macon County from scoring.

The teams will travel to Macon County March 25 with matches beginning at 5:30 p.m. and the boy’s team will face Jones County Tuesday, March 29 at 5:30 p.m.
