Piedmont Tracksters Compete

The Piedmont Academy track teams competed for the second time in 2016 during a multi-school meet hosted by Brentwood in Sandersville on March 16.

Once again, several athletes had impressive performances. Top performances for the Lady Cougars included:

•Bailyn Whitaker, fourth place, high jump, 4-6

•Gracie Hunt, fifth place, 400-meter dash, 1:07.53 and seventh place, 200-meter dash, 30.99

•Gracie Black, eighth place, 1,600-meter run, 7:57

•Mallory Boyd, eighth place, 3,200-meter run, 19:42

•Neely Bradford, shot put, 21-3 and discus, 58-4

•Lucy Tuggle, long jump, 11-7

•Caitlyn Young, 100-meter dash, 14.78.5

•Amelia Dodson, 100-meter dash, 15:68

•4×100-meter relay team (#1) of Maddie Morton, Neely Bradford, Lucy Tuggle and Cassidy Cook, 57.57

•4×100-meter relay team (#2) of Sydney Davis, Caitlyn Young, Taylor Patterson and Anna Knox, 58.19

Top performers for the Piedmont boys included:

•Owen Brady, 200-meter dash, fourth place, 29.33

•4×100-meter relay, fifth place, 48.64

•Parker Clark, triple jump, fifth place, 28-10.25

•Mack Brady, 1,600-meter run, fifth place, 5:50

•J.T. Webb, shot put, 34-1.5 and discus, 61-0

•Chris Coogler, 3,200-meter run, 15:53

Piedmont’s track teams were scheduled to compete at Trinity Christian School in Dublin March 23. The next meet will be April 13 at Gatewood.
