Annie Louise Hooper Aiken
Annie Louise Hooper Aiken, age 102, passed away Thursday, March 31, 2016, at Abbey Hospice.
Louise Aiken was a lifelong resident of Jasper County. Her parents were the late Henry Benjamin Hooper and Annie Whitten Hooper. Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Ray Aiken and eight brothers and sisters.
Louise Aiken was a member of the Monticello First United Methodist Church. She was the oldest member of Project Linus and the Busy Bees sewing club. She was a member of the Jasper Memorial Pink Ladies, and E. L. Club. She was a former band member of the Kookie Kutters and played the wash tub. She quilted and gardened until recent months.
Louise Aiken retired from the Enterprise Aluminum Plant. During World War II, she worked at the Naval Fuse Plant.
She is survived by her daughter and son, Brenda (Donald) Oulsnam of Greensboro, and Robby (Sharon) Aiken of Monticello; grandchildren, Drew Aiken, Amanda (James) Stefanakos, and Donnie (Tasha) Oulsnam; and great-grandchildren, Ethan Oulsnam, Nicholas Oulsnam, Ellie Oulsnam, Maia Stefanakos, Xander Stefanakos, and Phebe Stefanakos.
Funeral services will be held Monday, April 4, 2016, at 11 a.m. at Monticello First United Methodist Church. Interment will be held in West View Cemetery. Rev. Nathaniel Long will officiate.
Serving as pallbearers will be Rick Forbes, Don Kelly, Scott McElheney, Lee Parker, Matt Shelton and James Stefanakos.
The family will receive friends from 4 until 6 p.m., Sunday, April 3, 2016, at Jordan Funeral Home.
The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the Monticello First United Methodist Church, 651 College Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064; or Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta Foundation 1577 NE Expressway, Suite A, Atlanta, Ga. 30329; or Busy Bees, c/o Norma Mattison, 143 Maddux Street, Monticello, Ga. 31064.
