Jasper County Schools To Host Fun Run

Jasper County Schools will host a “Pi K” (3.14 km) Fun Run and a “STEAM Expo,” an exhibition of student work on Saturday, April 23.

A few examples of student work featured at the event will include the primary school’s LEGO First Jr. League, the middle school’s Remotely Operated Vehicle (ROV) team and high school engineering students showcasing human-sized trebuchets, cardboard chairs and mousetrap cars.

Several local organizations and industries will also have interactive booths or stations, such as Central Georgia EMC, the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office Crime Scene Unit, the Georgia Forestry Commission and the City of Monticello.

Participants will also get to see quadcopters, robot races, geodesic domes and engage in paper airplane contests, brain teasers and puzzlers.

The off-road fun run (or walk) will include puzzles along the way and awards will go to fastest overall, highest puzzler score and a combo of the two. The Pi K will start at 9 am at Jasper County High School (JCHS).
