Canes Fall To Crawford County
The Hurricanes fell 3-2 Tuesday to region opponent Crawford County after leading 2-0 for much of the game.
Sophomore Braden Lynch was on the mound and only allowed three hits and no earned runs.
The two Cane runs came on a squeeze by Hunter Duke that plated Cain Gonzales and Brelan Crowe. Crawford’s first two runs came in the sixth inning, then they were able to squeeze one more out in the seventh to take the win.
“Their lefty is probably the best pitcher in the region,” Head Coach Chris Jenkins said. “But we beat him earlier in the season, so there is no excuse for our poor performance. We chased too many pitches out of the zone, had too many big swings and were guessing too often with two strikes. With that type of approach, we would make a 10-year old look like Cy Young.”
The varsity squad will host Lamar for another region game Friday, April 15 at 5 p.m.
