Hurricane Soccer Takes on Central, Putnam

The Lady Hurricanes soccer team fought hard against Central on April 11 and although they exhibited their trademark teamwork they were not victorious, losing 7-1. They also fell 10-0 to Putnam County last Friday.

“I am so proud of how far our girls have come since the beginning of the season. It is always an honor to watch the girls turn into wonderful young ladies over the seasons they play. I cannot wait to see them play in the up-coming state game next week,” said Head Coach Amanda Paulk, as she praised the hard work of the Lady Hurricanes.

Lady Cane soccer players give their all as they battle opponents from neighboring counties. It takes the combined effort of the entire team of Ansley Atkinson, Riley Burton, Anastasia Cannon, Andrea Gonzalez, Megan Haddock, Calie Batson, Christian Caldwell, Laura Mitchell, Malia Moore, Shawnna Norwood, Keyla Ortiz, Deseray Norwood, Amber Payne, Madelyn Piper, Kaitlin Williams, and managers Kamryn Rooks and Cindy Sanchez.

Friday night was unseasonably cold and blustery as the Hurricane boys also hosted the War Eagles of Putnam County. Jacob Brady netted a goal in the first half tying the opponent at 1-1.

Goalie Crescencio Perez blocked, slid, and dove as he kept the War Eagles at bay. The Hurricanes fought long and hard as they tried to net another goal; however, they lost 4-1 in a battle that had the fans on the edge of their seats.

The Hurricane varsity soccer players include Crescencio Perez, Noe Ortiz, Alexis Garcia, Jacob Brady, Bryce Crawford, Ivan Sanchez, Fernando Nunez, Kevin Ortiz, Jose Luis Bautista, Alejandro Jaramillo, Jovani Gonzalez.
