Man Is Sentenced To Serve 20 Years

Baba Baldeh was sentenced to 20 years in confinement for guilty verdicts during one of two jury trials conducted last week in Jasper Superior Court.

Mr. Baldeh was charged with two counts of armed robbery stemming from a December 2014 incident at A-1 Foods located on Forsyth Street in Monticello.

John Dempsey also had a jury trial but unlike the previous defendant was found not guilty for simple battery/family violence charges stemming from an August 2015 incident.

In other Superior Court action last week several alleged offenders received minor jail time and lengthy probation sentences including:

Roger Wilkerson, 10 years of probation with the first 90 days to serve in jail for possession of cocaine, driving under the influence, and two counts of driving while license suspended. Fined $6,000.

Marchinlo Wyman, 90 days in jail for disorderly conduct and criminal trespass.

Glenda N. Culp, 10 years of probation with the first 30 days to be served in jail (to be served weekends beginning August 2016) for theft by taking and theft by shoplifting. Fined $1,000.

Damian Cloud, 24 months of probation with the first 10 days in jail for attempting to elude an officer, driving without a license, obstruction of an officer, possession of marijuana, and failure to maintain lane. Fined $500.

Stanley Keith Davis, seven days in jail for public drunkenness and loitering.

Kevin Thompson, eight years of probation for identity fraud.

Jessica Hammock, five years of probation for possession of methamphetamine. Fined $1,000.

Latoya Gude, five years of probation for possession of cocaine and crossing guard line w/contraband. Fined $1,000.

Donald Johnson, three years of probation for possession of methamphetamine and marijuana, and failure to maintain lane. Fined $800.

Gregory Mountain, three years of probation for possession of cocaine and expired license. Fined $800.
