Two More Are Charged with Underage Contact

Officers with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO) arrested two more people this week involving correspondence with an undercover agent with the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office posing as an teenage girl.

Clement James Abbot, 56, of Jackson, was charged with possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, criminal attempt to commit a felony and obscene telephone contact a child.

Connor Louis McClendon, 23, of Decatur, who was charged with obscene telephone contact with a child and criminal attempt to commit a felony.

These two arrests this week came on top of three arrests last week involving men coming to Jasper County presumably to meet with a 15-year-old they had corresponded with electronically.

All have had conversations with an agent with the local sheriff’s office, thinking they were talking to a 15-year-old girl. They come here to meet her in person.

Deputies this week also investigated a few reports of burglary, including the report of a chain saw being taken from an auto in on Marben Farms Road Monday. On Friday, deputies responded to a call about theft by taking and harassing calls. There a person reported a safe containing money and important documents being taken,and apparently some marijuana and pills were found there.

A burglary was reported last week on Jewel Lane, and another one was reported on Heron Drive. At Heron Drive, a chain saw, gas can and license plate were reportedly missing.

Persons booked into the Jasper County Detention Center in the last week include:

•Thomas Joseph Vogelpohl, 62, Decatur—forgery-third degree.

•Randy Cargile, 53, Monticell—obstruction of an officer and public drunkenness.

•Armando Reyes Rivas, 32, Covington—Jasper County Probate Court bench warrant.

•Quentin Mitchell, 37, Monticello—probation violation.

•Matthew Dillon Igarashi, 21, Jackson—possession of Schedule I controlled substance, possession of methamphetamine, theft by taking and drug related objects.

•Robert Bradford Shields, 42, Social Circle—possession of methamphetamine.

•Drew Alexander Parrott, 18, McDonough—violation of Class D license, driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs and failure to maintain lane.

•Gregory James Vanhuss, 42, Yadkinville, N.C.—probation violation.

Jennifer Nicole Johnson, 30, Monticello—hold for warrant in Lamar Co.

•Caressa Lenore Jackson, 33, Monticello—sodomy and prostitution.

•Tracy Eugene Plunkett, 45, Monticello—probation violation.

•Christopher Jim Yawn, 37, Shady Dale—Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.

•Bridgett Lynn Jones, 33, Monticello—sale of methamphetamine, possession of Schedule IV controlled substance and possession of methamphetamine.

•Joshua David Coker, 35, Covington—possession of methamphetamine.

•Elizabeth Ann Smith, 22, Oxford—Jasper County Superior Court bench warrant.
