Sentences Handed Down in Superior Court
Donavan J. Clemons was sentenced to five years in confinement on five charges from two separate criminal cases during Jasper County Superior Court Tuesday under the judgeship of William Prior, Jr.
Mr. Clemons received 15 years for the sale of hydrocodone, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, and possession of marijuana in one case while being sentenced to 10 years in the other case for possession of marijuana and failure to maintain lane. Beyond the five years of confinement, the balance may be served on probation.
Gordon Fairchild, Jr. was sentenced to three years of probation for possession of methamphetamine.
Probation revocations and modifications included:
Brandon Thompson, sentenced to 90 days in jail for failure to meet court curfew, failure to attend court ordered meetings, and failure to make court payments.
Jerome Lamar Reid, sentenced to 47 days in jail for failure to report to probation office, failure to make court payments, failure to complete community service, and failure to complete the intervention program.
Quentin Mitchell, sentenced to 76 days in jail with credit for time served and released to probation upon payment of court fees and completion of community service within 30 days. He incurred a new offense of driving without a license in July 2016 and failed to pay court fess and complete community service.
Gregory VanHuss, sentenced to 180 days in jail suspended upon entry into state probation detention center for 120 -180 days for failure to report to probation office and failure to pay court fees.
Judge Brenda Trammell presided over Jasper County Superior Court on August 2 reviewing several criminal cases and a handful of civil cases.
Sentences for new offenses included:
Angela Kay Andrews, sentenced to five years of probation for theft by receiving stolen property.
Elizabeth Ann Smith, sentenced to three years of probation for possession of methamphetamine, possession of a schedule IV controlled substance, sale, distribution, possession of dangerous drugs, possession of marijuana, and obstruction of an officer. Fined $800.
Mondrez Rontarious Jacobs, sentenced to 12 months of probation for possession of marijuana. Fined $500. He was also required to enter an inpatient treatment program for drugs for no less than six months.
Marty Lyle Bilbrey, Jr., sentenced to 12 months of probation for disorderly conduct. Fined $400.
Warren Fitzgerald Akins, Jr., sentenced to 12 months for simple battery. Fined $400.

Steven James Barker, sentenced to serve 180 days in jail but suspended upon entry into a state probation detention center for 90-120 days for failing to report to the Eatonton probation office twice in October 2015.
Christian Blair Mason, sentenced to 180 days in jail but suspended upon entry into a residential substance abuse treatment program or long term treatment program at her own expense. for new offense of possession of methamphetamine and a controlled substance, giving false information to officers and failing to report to the probation office.
Margaret Jean East, sentenced to 180 days in jail but suspended upon entry into a state probation detention center for 60-90 days for failing to report to probation office, failing to pay court fees, and failing to notify court of new address.
Kevin Andrew Wilhite, sentenced to 60 days in jail for positive drug test.
Roman Seay, sentenced to 27 days in jail for failing to pay court fees and report weekly to the probation office.
James Grindle, sentenced to pay court fees within 60 days or report back to jail.
Kenneth Thurman, sentenced to 60 days in jail for new charge of criminal trespass.
Troy Lee Dowdy, sentenced to 30 days in jail for failure to pay court fees and failed to visit probation office.
Dwight Jones, sentenced to 90 days in jail for new charge in Newton County, failure to report to the probation office and failure to pay court fees.
Tyson Neal Carnes, sentenced to 90 days in jail for failure to report to probation office, failed to complete community service, failed to pay court fees.
