MS Lady Cougars Lose
Piedmont Academy’s Middle School softball team put up a fight, but in the end fell to visiting John Milledge Academy 12-5 Monday.
The game featured plenty of offense by both teams, but John Milledge used an eight-run top of the third inning to earn enough of a cushion to record the victory.
Piedmont lead 3-2 after the first inning and added runs in the bottom of the third and fifth. JMA scored twice in the top of the first, eight in the third and two more in the sixth.
Fleming Sealy was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI while MaLynne Webb was 1-f-ro-2 with two RBI. Maddie Waddleton was 1-for-2 with an RBI and Sydney Stroud drove in a run.
Hannah Tyler scored one of Piedmont’s run and Emily McEwen finished 1-for-2 with a walk.
Sealy worked the first 2.2 innings in the pitcher’s circle followed by Abby Arnold (1.1 innings of work, one strikeout) and McEwen (2 innings).
“We competed against a very good John Milledge team and showed a lot of fight early on,” said coach Cameron Vaughn. “We got down early and fought back.”
