JV Lady Cougars Win

Piedmont Academy’s junior varsity softball team was able to take the field in recent days and posted two impressive wins in the process.

The team earned a 15-0 victory against Covington Academy last week as home.

The Lady Cougars scored three runs in the bottom of the first and then added six more in both the second and third innings. Kenzie Rodgers earned the win recording eight strikeouts in just three innings of work.

Offensively, Hailey Hooper was 3-for-3 with two runs and three RBI. MaLynne Webb was 3-for-3 with two runs and an RBI while Haley Ann Frank was 1-for-3 with a walk and two runs scored.

Mattie Johnston (1-for-3), Maddie Morton (1-for-1 with a run and RBI), Rebekah Hicks (1-for-2 with a run and RBI) and Deacon Robinson (1-for-3 with a run and RBI) also contributed offensively.

The JV team also defeated The Heritage School of Newnan 10-5 on Tuesday in another home game. Frank was 2-for-4 at the plate with two runs and Cassidy Cook was 3-for-4 with two runs and three RBI.

Ava Anglin was 2-for-3 with two runs and an RBI with Mattie Johnston, Webb and Rodgers both contributing offensively. Sydney Stroud was 1-for-1 with a walk and Robinson scored a run.

Rodgers pitched all seven innings on Tuesday striking out nine batters while giving up four earned runs.
