Perennial Player Wins First Contest

Kasey Hall thinks a lot of The Monticello News football contest. She plays every week, and has won the grand prize in the past.
This week she knew she made the honor roll, and her husband didn’t, but until News staffers called she did not know she was one of seven with 12 correct picks, and one of two who missed the tie-breaker by one point. Mrs. Hall guessed 28 points would be scored in Monticello’s 23-6 loss to Pike County Friday.
For her efforts she picked up a $25 check from Lynne Tanner at the Bank of Monticello, sponsor of the first week’s contest.
Cathy Glow also picked Pike County to win, and had 12 correct picks. She guessed the tie-breaker to be 30 points, also just one point off the total. Ms. Glow was unable to come to town to have her photo made, so she will receive a consolation prize from The Monticello News.
Both ladies get their names added to the grand prize honor roll for a chance to win four premium tickets to the Chick-fil-A Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s eve. Others who got 12 right also have their names added to the honor roll which can be seen on the contest page, which is page 9 this week.
Last week kicked off 15 weeks of fun as anyone who wants can play the football contest. No special skill is needed, and there is no cost to enter. Just look at the games listed in the paper each week, guess the winner, and turn your entry in to The Monticello News by 5 p.m. on Friday.
Entries can be faxed to 706-468-6576 or brought in person to 247 West Washington Street, Monticello. Last week we experienced some difficulty with the fax machine, but hopefully it will all be worked out this week.
This week is another chance to win, and the winner will pick up a $25 prize from Tricia P. Armistead, C.P.A., sponsor of the week.
Will the winner be a perennial player like Mrs. Hall, or will a novice take the honors next week? You don’t have a chance if you don’t enter. Join the 100+ who already play frequently, and maybe you can win!
