ROPES TRAINING

Jasper County Emergency Services personnel recently completed the Initial Rope for the First Due Responder training class held here in Jasper County. The class was 16 hours long and consisted of classroom lecture and hands on training in basic low angle rope rescue.
With this training, emergency services personnel will be better prepared for situations involving rescue down embankments and other low angle rescue situations. Steve Milligan (right) is using ropes for rescue on the side of a building, while (bottom photo) two rescuers use a Stokes basket which would be used for a rescue down an embankment.
The class was held Saturday and Sunday, and was offered through the Georgia Fire Chiefs Association. Participants will get a certificate for the entry level ropes class. Those taking the class are pictured on page 2 of Thursday’s paper.
