Clay Crushing Cougars Shoot in Macon

The Piedmont Academy Clay Crushing Cougar Shotgun team had its third shoot of the season this past Saturday at Ocmulgee River Gun Club in Macon.

A total of 10 schools competed during the action-packed day. Throughout the competition, 90 shooters fired 50 rounds of skeet and 100 rounds of sporting clays.

Piedmont had nine team members competing at the shoot as the Clay Crushing Cougars finished in second place scoring a 398 overall. Mitch Marsh tied for first place honors and was the highest overall (HOA) shooter for the team with a score of 144.

Second was Zach Sanders (128) followed Anne Marie Hildebrant (126), Owen Brady (123) and Eli Waits (122.)

In skeet, Marsh tied for second place overall out of 90 shooters with a score of 48. Next was Sanders and Brady with a score of 45, putting them in eighth place overall. Hildebrant (44), Andrew Chapko (43) and Waits (42) also had quality scores.

In sporting clays, the top shooters were Marsh, who tied for first place with a score of 96, followed by Sanders (83), Hildebrant (82), Waits (81) and Chapko and Owen Brady (78).

Hildebrant was the second highest female shooter with a score of 126.

The Clay Crushing Cougars will compete again Saturday, Oct. 8, at Old Hudson Plantation.
