Contest Winner Gets A Dozen Right

TURKEY HOLLAND (L), KEITH ESTES

There wasn’t one game that threw everyone off in the weekly Monticello News football contest…or possibly it was. Few people picked Vanderbilt to beat Georgia, including football contest winner Gus Whitlock.

He missed that one, but managed to get 12 right to pick up this week’s prize—$25 from Keith Estes at Venture Medical Center, sponsor of the week. Co-worker Turkey Holland collected his prize for him as he was out of town early this week.

Besides the Georgia game, Mr. Whitlock missed two pro games, but sucessfully picked the winner of the high school games listed, as well as most of the college games. One person who got 11 right actually picked Vanderbilt to win. And, only four players, got as many as 11 right, with more than 100 players correctly guessing the winner of 10 or less of the games listed last week.

Maybe this week will get easier. There have been three tough weeks in a row, so hopefully with the Dawgs off this week, game players can score big.

Whoever does…guessing the winners of 12 or more games listed, and submitting the entry by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Oct. 21, will get their names added to the grand prize honor roll for a premium ticket package to the Chick-fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on New Year’s Eve. Entries can be submitted in person, by fax or e-mail. See page 9.
