Joe Ward
.A homegoing celebration for Joe Ward Sr., was held Saturday, Oct. 22, at Midway C.M. E. Church in Shady Dale. Rev. Willie Davis, pastor, officiated. Burial was in Midway Church Cemetery.
Joe Ward, Sr., was born August 31, 1937 to the late Lorenzo Ward and Selena Jordan of Shady Dale, Ga. He was educated in the Jasper County School System.
Joe loved farming and tinkering. He was employed at Georgia Pacific in Monticello for 27 and a half years. Joe embraced God at an early age and continued his belief in God.
He was called home on October 17, 2016. His wife, Birdell B. Ward; dad, Sidney Jordan; brother, Marvin David Jordan, and brother-in-law, Calvin Bowden preceded him in death.
He leaves to cherish his memories three sons, Joe Lewis Ward, Jr. of Shady Dale, Calvin J. Ward (Linda) of Mansfield, and Marvin Mickens of Shady Dale; daughters, Earnestine White (Robert) of Covington, Rubytine Stone (Herman) and Eula B. Johnson, both of Shady Dale; brothers, James Bonard Jordan of Shady Dale; four sisters, Carl Anne Jordan of Shady Dale, Elease Farley (Ricky) of Eatonton, Joyce Farley and Audrey Jordan, both of Shady Dale; sister-in-law, Mary Key of Covington, 13 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
