George Alvin Walker
A memorial service for George Alvin Walker, who died October 28, 2016, was held Sunday, Nov. 6, at the chapel of Smith and Sons Funeral Home in Monticello. Rev. Jimmy Horton officiated.
Mr. Walker was born to the late Winfred Walker, Sr., and Jessie Mae Alexander Walker on May 30, 1953, in Jasper County.
He was preceded in death by his brother, Winfred Walker Jr., and sisters, Ina Ruth Stinson, Mary Stone, and Meslean Walker Gardner.
Mr. Walker was educated in the Jasper County School System. After his formal education, he spent many years as a dedicated caregiver helping the elderly doing yard work. Fishing and working on vehicles were his hobbies. He attended New Bethel Grove Baptist Church in Monticello.
He is survived by his mother, Jessie Mae Walker of Monticello; brothers, Vernon Richard Walker (Ann), Felton Walker (Renee), David Wayne Walker, all of Monitcello, and Dale Walker of Atlanta; sisters, Karen Walker of Monticello and Jessica Clay (Tommie) of Jackson; nieces, Pamela Stinson, JoAnn Walker, Annie Walker and Shay Walker; nephews, Darrin Stinson, Anthony Stinson, Brian Stone, Marcus Jefferson, Davon Walker, David Walker and Vernon Walker, and a number of cousins and friends.
