Clay Crushing Cougars Host Competition

The Piedmont Academy Clay Crushing Cougars hosted their first clay target competition on Saturday, Oct. 29, at Old Hudson Plantation.

A total of 118 shooters from 13 schools participated. In trap, Mitch Marsh placed first overall at the event. Piedmont’s highest scoring shooters included Marsh (46), Anne Marie Hildebrant (39), Eli Waits (38), and Zach Sanders (36).

In sporting clays, Marsh placed fourth overall. Piedmont’s highest scoring sporting clay shooters included Marsh (87), Waits (81), Owen Brady (78), Sanders (77) and Hildebrant (72).

For highest overall shooter in the competition, Marsh once again finished strong with a score of 133 putting him in third place among 118 participants.

Overall, Piedmont had a very good weekend and placed second in comparison to the other schools, coach Brian Marsh said.

The Clay Crushing Cougars will not compete again until the first weekend in December when they travel to Savannah for the GISA state shotgun competition.
