Brock Carter to Play College Ball

After helping the Piedmont Academy baseball team enjoy the ultimate level of success during his high school career, Brock Carter made it official last week about where he will continue his athletic and academic careers following graduation this upcoming spring.
Carter signed with the University of North Georgia on November 10. He was joined by family, classmates, high school and travel league coaches and teachers during the signing.
“I would like to congratulate Brock on a remarkable accomplishment,” said Piedmont coach Daniel Funt. “We offer congratulations to him, but also to his parents and his family. They have been dedicated to helping him achieve this amazing accomplishment.”

When the Piedmont coaching staff first became aware of Carter at Alcovy High School in Covington, they knew he was an outstanding player, his Piedmont coach said.
“We had also heard he was an outstanding person as well,” Funt said. “Once Brock arrived at Piedmont, we saw a great person and once baseball season came, we saw a great player. Brock is a strong student, always striving to do his best. He is an extremely respectful young man, with a deep passion for learning and baseball.”
That passion for the sport is something that is obvious to those who watch Carter compete on the baseball diamond. He has been named All Region and All State. While he has also competed at second base and shortstop during his time at Piedmont, Carter has become one of the top pitchers in the GISA helping the Cougars win another state baseball title last spring.
“He is an extremely hard worker and just loves playing the game,” Funt said.
In his summer between high school baseball, Carter competes for various travel baseball teams. Funt said Carter’s travel team coaches have also helped make him a better player.
“I couldn’t be happier for Brock and his family,” Funt said. “North Georgia has a beautiful campus with impeccable facilities. It is a great school and he will be playing against some of the best NCAA Division II schools in the country in the Peach Belt Athletic Conference. I have been blessed to be a part of his life.”
Carter will help lead the Diamond Cougars in their quest for a fourth consecutive state championship this upcoming season.
