Retirement Reception Held for the Kellys

LOUISE AND DON KELLY

More than 150 people attended a reception held last Thursday for Don and Louise Kelly who are retiring from their positions at the Bank of Moniticello at the end of the year.

At the reception, Steve Jordan read a resolution that was adopted by the Board of Directors of the bank that day. The resolution expresses appreciation to Mr. Kelly for his 44 years of service to the Bank of Monticello. The resolution recognizes Mr. Kelly’s strong leadership, unselfish commitment and total support of the bank and its mission.

It also recognizes Mr. Kelly for his community service work such as serving on the Board of Education, and volunteering with the Monticello-Jasper County Chamber of Commerce, serving on the board of the Jasper County Community Food Bank, and his service to the Jasper County Historical Society.

The resolution goes on to recognize his service to the Monticello First United Methodist Church for many years in many roles.

Although Mr. and Mrs. Kelly both officially retire on January 31, Mr. Kelly will continue his service as Chairman of the Board of the Bank of Monticello.

Mrs. Kelly, the former Louise Norton, began work at the bank in August, 1985, meaning she leaves with 31 years service to the bank. She currently serves as Corporate Secretary.

The resolution also recognizes Mr. Kelly’s education and rise through the ranks at the bank. One interesting note is the bank’s assets were $4,359,083 when Mr. Kelly joined the bank on a full time basis on June 30, 1972, after graduating from the University of Georgia.
