Jeannete Mannings
A celebration of life for Jeannete Mannings, who died January 10, was held January 15 at St. James A.M.E. Church in Monticello. Pastor Donna Marie Calix officiated; burial was in South View Cemetery.
Ms. Mannings was born on January 31, 1950 in Chicago, Ill., to the late Clyde Aaron and Jennie Mae Mannings.
She grew up on the south side of Chicago and graduated from Jean Baptiste Point DuSable High School. Later, she completed her postsecondary education at American Business College and completed a successful career at Spiegel (a female apparel online retailer) and pursued her passion for helping the sick while working towards a degree in nursing at Kennedy King College, also in Chicago.
A confidante and best friend to her three children, she taught them the importance of making sacrifices for family and friends and they learned that when they heeded her advice, they prospered.
On Tuesday morning, Jan. 10, Ms. Mannings joined her second child, Andrea, and her parents.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her children, Ardrell Aaron (Sharice) and Adrienne; grandchildren, Kindi, Xavier, Jadyn, Zenae, and great-grandson, Kadyn.
While Jeannette did not have any biological brothers and sisters, she leaves behind Barbara and Dorothy Mae (who were more like sisters than cousins), an aunt, Elizabeth (Clyde Aaron’s sister), and a host of cousins from the Carter and Mannings family.
Smith and Sons Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements.
