Two Qualify for County Commission

Don Jernigan and Ross Hays qualified for the District 3 County Commission seat for which there is a special election on March 21.

The election is to fill the unexpired term of Gene Trammell who died earlier this year. The term is four years, beginning last month, so whoever is elected will serve the majority of a term.

Qualifying ended at noon Thursday, Feb. 9.

The last day to register to vote in that election, which is for District 3 only, will be February 21.

Early voting begins in the Courthouse on Monday, Feb. 27.
