Grand Jury Returns True Bills
The Jasper County Courthouse was heavily populated last week with the Grand Jury convening for the February 2017 term, jury trial week beginning, and motion day activities throughout the week.
On Monday, Feb. 13 the Grand Jury, composed of 23 individuals, reviewed 22 bills of indictments while true billing the following:
Justin Bostic, indicted on 13 counts including four counts of sale of cocaine, two counts of possession of contraband by inmate, two counts of possession of cocaine, possession of cocaine with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, open container, possession of alcoholic beverage by inmate, and possession of marijuana less than an ounce.
Matthew McMurry, indicted on seven counts including two counts of sale of methamphetamine, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, tampering with evidence, possession of marijuana, less than an ounce, possession of drug related objects, and obstruction of an officer.
James Spensley, indicted on five counts including criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, computer pornography, obscene internet contact with a child, possession of methamphetamine with intent to distribute, obstruction of an officer, possession of methamphetamine.
Tavoris Antonio Whidby, indicted on five counts including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, possession of drug related objects, disorderly conduct, and taillight violation.

Candise Andrews, indicted on four counts including possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, possession of drug related objects, and disorderly conduct.
Bryant Blackstock, indicted on four counts for aggravated assault, cruelty to children in the third degree, possession of marijuana less than an ounce, and possession of firearm by convicted felon.
Owen Daley, indicted on four counts including criminal attempt to commit child molestation, computer pornography, obscene internet contact with a child, and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute.
Mark Kent Mosley, indicted on four counts including criminal attempt to commit aggravated child molestation, criminal attempt to commit child molestation, computer pornography, and obscene internet contact with a child.
Ethan Davis, indicted on four counts including two counts felony theft by taking and two counts of possession of firearm by first offender probationer.
Fredrick Marks, indicted on three counts including sale of marijuana, possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, and theft by receiving stolen property.
Marcus Standifer, indicted on three counts for possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, possession of marijuana more than an ounce, and possession of drug related objects.
Willie Lee Jones, indicted on three counts including burglary in the first degree, and two counts of aggravated assault.
Warren Finney, indicted on two counts of failure to register as sex offender.
Anirrudh Saddi, indicted on two counts including criminal attempt to commit child molestation and obscene internet contact with a child.
Connor McClendon, indicted on two counts including criminal attempt to commit child molestation and computer pornography.
Derrick Richardson, indicted on two counts including criminal attempt to commit child molestation and computer pornography.
Robert Iacopelli, indicted on two counts including criminal attempt to commit child molestation and computer pornography.
Joe F. Lawson, III, indicted for possession of firearm by convicted felon.
William Douglass Brooks, indicted for possession of methamphetamine.
Matthew Guy Stephenson, indicted for burglary in the first degree.
Jodi Bishop, indicted for aggravated stalking.
Matthew Cook, indicted for burglary in the first degree.
Sabrina Harp, indicted for aggravated assault.
Felton Walker, indicted for aggravated assault.
Quincy Sands, indicted for criminal attempt to commit a felony.
The Grand Jury also took action to re-appoint Carole Norris as chief registrar to another four year term beginning July 1, 2017 and toured the local law enforcement center as well.
Judge Brenda Trammell presided over the session with the aid of District Attorney (D.A.)Stephen Bradley, Assistant D.A. Brent Cochran, and Victims’ Advocate Gay Mooney.

Judge William A. Prior, Jr. presided over a light docket of motion day criminal cases last Tuesday which resulted in the following sentences:
Robert Allen Robinson, sentenced to 24 months of probation for possession of marijuana, less than an ounce and driving while license suspended. Fined $800.
Cynthia Bernice Martinez, sentenced to 12 months of probation for theft by taking. Fined $200.
Jacob Lee Holland, probation revoked to 180 days in jail with suspension upon entry into a residential substance abuse treatment program following admitted drug use and failure to complete community service and pay court fines.
Mitchell Alton Sailors, probation revoked to 90 days in jail for a positive drug test and failure to pay court fees.
Matthew Duchane was issued a bond order for $25,000 and Zachary Dylan ray was placed on pre-trial diversion for the charge of simple battery.
