Cougars Lose in Playoffs

The Piedmont Academy varsity boys basketball team saw its season come to an end with a 78-40 loss in the opening round of the GISA Class AA state tournament on Feb. 22.

The Cougars qualified for state by earning the No. 4 seed from their region. Piedmont upset Brentwood in the region tournament after falling to the Eagles twice during the regular season.

Qualifying for the state tournament was one of the highlights in what was a tough season for Piedmont, who finished with six wins overall.

Piedmont’s 2016-2017 roster was compiled primarily of underclass so coaches are hoping the team can take more steps forward next year.

The varsity Lady Cougars fell in the first round of the region tournament last month.
