Canes Fall to Swainsboro

The Monticello Hurricane varsity basketball boys’ team concluded its 2016-1017 season on the road in Swainsboro last Thursday with a 68-62 loss to the Tigers.

“This was a very enjoyable and rewarding season,” said Head Coach William “B.J.” Thomas said. “We lost seven players off of last season’s 21 win team and still bounced back to win 20 games and advance to the Sweet Sixteen. I’ve never been more proud of a group than I am of this group. We were ranked as high as #2 in the state at one point.”

He continued “I still believe Ashton Bonner and C.J. Adams made up the best back court in the state and the amount of compliments they got from opposing coaches confirms that. And the support of the parents this season was so huge. It made my job so much easier.”
