Sarah Swarn Walker

Sarah Swarn Walker was born on September 22, 1944 in Monticello, to the late Grover Jackson and Evelyn Swarn. She died March 15, 2017.

The celebration of life service will be Thursday, March 23rd at 11 a.m. at Cascade United Methodist Church, 3144 Cascade Rd., SW, Atlanta, GA 30311.

Her early childhood parentage consisted of Mary Swarn and, at the age of 10, was reared by the late Deacon Tommie and Mother Ethel Driskell of Monticello.

After high school she moved to Atlanta, where she lived until her passing on March 15, 2017. She was a retired Pension Administrator at the Metro Atlanta Rapid Transit Authority (MARTA). She was married to Tommy L. Walker, Jr. of Lafayette, AL; to this union was born two daughters, Kimbrelyn and Tiffany.

She was loved and respected by all who had the pleasure of knowing her as that was the way the Driskells reared her—to be kind and thrive on helping others. She loved the Lord and would witness to His goodness and mercy in song through the voice that God had blessed her with as a child.

She will be remembered as a loving wife and mother who cherished her daughters and five grandchildren. She will also be remembered by her generosity, warmth, wisdom, compassion, integrity and love for family and friends.

In addition to her husband and two daughters, Sarah leaves to cherish her memory five grandchildren, Erin Re’, JaRon Tarik, JaNae Kamari, Tyler Simone, and Payton Marie; siblings Gloria Hendrix (Reginald) of Atlanta, Emma Sands (Ernest) and Sue Stone of Monticello, Eliza Irving (John), and Ethel Griffin (Richard) and Thomas Driskell (Ethel) of Springfield, MA; an aunt, Frankie Jackson of Monticello; special nephew, George Surry (Gwen) of Orlando, FL and cousins, Leon and Maxine Fuller of Macon; and a host of other nieces, nephews and cousins.
