Piedmont Duo Advances

Piedmont Academy’s varsity tennis players competed in the region tournament last week at the Brentwood School in Sandersville.

Anne Marie Hildebrant (singles), Ryn Smith and Emily Mills (doubles) and Grayson Bradley and Gracie Hunt (doubles) represented the Lady Cougars.

Hildebrant faced an opponent from Brentwood in her opening match falling 6-3, 6-2.

Smith and Mills also faced a strong doubles team from Brentwood in the opening round falling 6-0, 6-0.

Bradley and Hunt advanced by defeating their foes from Thomas Jefferson 7-5, 6-0. The Lady Cougar duo then fell to Brentwood 6-1, 6-0. Bradley and Hunt then played the top team from Thomas Jefferson falling 8-0.

Bradley and Hunt advanced to the GISA Class AA state tennis tournament at the John Drew Tennis Center in Macon where they were to face the No. 1 seed from Grace Christian.
