Clara Jean “C. J.” Askew

Clara Jean “C. J.” Askew, age 63, of Macon, passed away Friday, May 19, 2017, at her residence.

C. J. Askew was born in Milledgeville to the late Raymond Sidney Askew and Carolyn Bargeron Askew. She grew up in Sparta and graduated from John Hancock Academy in 1971. Before retirement, she was a registered nurse for Memorial Hospital in Savannah. She formerly worked at Fort Valley Hospital and the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon.

Along with her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved pet, Shelly.

She is survived by her sisters and brother, Carol (Ronald) Lewis of Harlem, Nancy (Ralph) Gunn of Monticello, Kathy (Donald) Lewis of Deepstep and Delmar Askew of Decatur; 10 nieces and nephews; 11 great-nieces and nephews; and four great-great-nieces and nephews.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, May 27, 2017, at Culverton Baptist Church in Culverton, Ga.

The family will receive friends after the service at the church.
