Senior Diamond Cougars Leave Legacy

The six seniors for the 2017 Piedmont Academy baseball team have left a stamp of success on the program which will be hard to duplicate.

Mack Brady, Tyler Mills, Wyatt Galloway, Jay Sheets, Michael Edwards and Brock Carter capped their careers for the Diamond Cougars recently with the GISA Class AA state championship, the fourth for the program in as many seasons. Brady, Mills, Galloway and Edwards were part of all four titles with Carter playing for three championship teams and Sheets for two.

Brady was a three-time All-Region and two-time All-State player. He will continue his playing career for Augusta State University.

Mills and Galloway are two-time All-Region players.

Galloway will continue his education at the United States Naval Academy.

Sheets and Edwards both earned All-Region honors on two occasions and All-State once. Sheets is set to play baseball at Piedmont College.

Carter was a three-time All-Region player and three-time All-State performer and will continue his playing career for the University of North Georgia.

During the past four seasons, the Diamond Cougars have won four state titles and compiled an overall record of 95-25 and gone 32-2 in the postseason. Both losses in the playoffs were by one run.
