SHOTGUN CHAMPIONS

The National 4-H Shotgun Shooting Competition was held in Grand Island, Nebraska, last week. The Georgia state winning Putnam County team brought home an impressive second place win in the nation. Texas was the first place winner with only six shots more than the Georgia team.
The team is pictured as follows (left to right) Aaron Coplan and Baylor Garland, Putnam County; Brian Marsh, coach, and Mitch Marsh, Jasper County and Riley Downs, Glascock County. In addition, the team placed second (high over all) in sporting clays and third (high over all) in skeet. Individual team members placed as follows: Aaron Copland, third place (hoa), Baylor Garland, 13th (hoa) and Mitch Marsh 18th (hoa).
These young men were competing against 144 other shooters. Each team member shot a total of 100 rounds in each discipline (skeet, sporting clays and trap). The following are their individual scores: Aaron Copland—skeet 98/100; trap 91/100; sporting clays 90/100; Baylor Garland—skeet 98/100; trap 92/100; sporting clays 79/100; Mitch Marsh—skeet 95/100; trap 98/100; sporting clays 75/100; Riley Downs—skeet 92/100; trap 85/100; sporting clays 78/100. There were 36 teams competing from around the country.
