The Beauty of Nature

I love nature. It is a great gift from God. I especially enjoy watching nature at work.

The other night I watched a spider spinning a web on our swing. It was unbelievable how quickly he or she worked. Also, think how tiny of a brain that spider must have and still do such wonderful work!

We have three blue bird houses in our yard. Already this year, we have seen 15 blue birds hatch and fledge from these houses.

In the corner of our garage, we had a bird build a nest recently. The other day I saw two eggs in it. I’m not sure what kind of bird made it.

While pulling weeds and clipping around the shrubs and trees in the yard, I found two other nests. One was in our cherry tree. It looks like a brown thrasher. In our Japanese maple tree is another tiny nest. Again, I’m not sure what kind of bird made this nest.

I am not sure why the birds build their nests around our home. Perhaps, it’s because we keep suet cakes hanging in our trees to feed the birds or perhaps, they like the solitude around our home. Whatever the reason, I’m glad they chose to build their homes around us.

At the lake, I love to watch the cranes as they inch around the water’s edge looking for something tasty to eat. I am amazed how they can fly out in the morning to who knows where and every evening return to the same place to nest for the night.

I’m so amazed at the different birds that I’ve decided to try to get more familiar with the various types of birds in our yard. I found a website that has pictures of birds and the sounds they make.

It is truly amazing how something so small with such small brains can build such wonderful nests and then raise and feed their little ones until it is time for them to leave the nest.

The other day we saw three young deer feeding in a field. We have done nothing to feed them. God has given them life and food.

Now, having said this, I don’t understand why God created armadillos. It would have been nice if Noah had left this pair off the boat. What good are they other than to aerate your yard when it doesn’t need aerating?

Another nuisance of nature is the tiny, irritating gnat. I guess it was not too difficult for a pair of these to sneak into the ark. My years in South Georgia would have been much more enjoyable had there not been gnats. Far too many got in my mouth, ears, nose, and eyes.

However, God is God, so I will give Him the benefit of a doubt and He can explain to me why He created the armadillos and the gnats when I get to heaven.

Until then, I am simply going to sit back and enjoy these wonderful creatures of the earth that God has created for me to enjoy.
