FIVE INJURED IN HEAD-ON COLLISION

Five people were injured Sunday afternoon, when two trucks collided on Hwy. 212 west at Conley Ditch Road. The first vehicle was a 2001 Ford Ranger driven by Lane Morehead of Covington. It was traveling north on Conley Ditch Road. Meanwhile, the second vehicle, a 2001 Dodge Ram driven by Earl Bell of Monticello was traveling west on Hwy. 212.

When the first vehicle pulled out of Conley Ditch onto Hwy. 212, turning right, it crossed the yellow line and hit the other vehicle. The collision was enough to do major damage to each truck, and everyone involved was injured. One vehicle had four occupants, and the other just had one. Three people were transported to Atlanta Medical Center, and two were taken to Macon Medical Center. They were all taken by ground, because the weather prevented helicoptors from flying. Traffic was diverted down Jackson Lake Road and Hwy. 36.
