Armed Robbery Is Investigated

An armed robbery occurred last Thursday, July 27, at Johns’s Store on Greene Street, just off the Square.

The masked, armed man entered the store about 11 p.m. One round was discharged, according to the report from the Jasper County Sheriff’s Office (JCSO), and no one was injured. The robber made away with about $300 which he took from the cash register, as the owner stayed out of the way.

The investigation is ongoing, and they are looking at several suspects, said the investigator with JCSO. “Hopefully it will be resolved soon,” he said.

Deputies are also investigating burglaries on Loon Trail, Forsyth Street, and Bullard Road. There were two incidents of entering an auto in the County Line Road area, one on July 30 on Ashwood Drive, and one on July 31 on Lance Court.

A resident reported the theft of his auto from an address in Turtle Cove, and deputies entered it in the statewide database. The vehicle was later recovered in Macon. Deputies also made several arrests in the last week.

Those arrested, and their charges, include:
