Qualifying Is August 21-24

Qualifying for the November 7 election will take place Monday, Aug. 21 through noon Thursday, Aug. 24, a week earlier than previously reported.

Elections Superintendent Linda Keller explained the state moved the qualifying date up this year. Therefore, anyone seeking to run for the Monticello City Council, Shady Dale City Council or Jasper County Clerk of Superior Court will need to qualify August 21-24. Qualifying for the cities is at the respective City Halls. Qualifying for Superior Court Clerk will be in the Probate Judge office.

Voting for Shady Dale will take place in Shady Dale. Voting for the city of Monticello offices and the Clerk’s position will in the Courthouse. Polls will be open district-wide for the clerk’s position.
