VEHICLE ACCIDENTS

Five people were injured last Friday afternoon after these two vehicles collided on Hwy. 142 near Midway Road in north Jasper County. James Lynch was traveling east on Hwy. 142 in a 2004 Toyota Camry while Charlotte Rivas was traveling west on the highway in a 2009 Dodge Caravan. The Toyota failed to maintain the lane, according to the report from the Georgia State Patrol (GSP), and entered into the west bound lane, striking the van. Both vehicles traveled some distance after impact. The driver of the Toyota stated he must have fallen asleep. On Saturday night, a pedestrian was killed on Hwy. 11 north in Jasper County. The victim, Camron Dennis, was walking north on Hwy. 11 in the north bound lane wearing dark clothes, according to the report from the GSP. A 2013 Ford Explorer struck Mr. Dennis, killing him. Witnesses stated they had seen Mr. Dennis walking in the road…one saying he was three or four feet from the side, the other saying he was near the middle of the road. The passenger side of the Explorer was damaged. Caldwell & Cowan Funeral Home in Covington is in charge of Mr. Dennis’ funeral arrangements. A Go Fund Me account has been established to help with expenses.
