MS Canes Open Season with Win

The Jasper County Middle School (JCMS) Hurricane football team played their first game of the new season against the Youth Middle School Warriors last Wednesday and emerged victorious, 26-0.

The Canes played tough defense throughout the game registering two interceptions and three fumble recoveries. The offense threatened from their first drive and moved the ball well throughout the game. However, first game mistakes were seen on offense as there were numerous penalties throughout the first half.

Ardarious Benton ran for two touchdowns. Ashton Pennamon caught a touchdown pass from Tre Huff and returned a fumble for a touchdown. Mario Greene had a touchdown called back due to a holding penalty. Keyshawn Ammons scored a 2-point conversion to finish the scoring.

Benton and Pennamon each had one interception while Ammons also had a fumble recovery. Other defensive standouts were Cedrion Miller and Jacorian Grier.

The next game was scheduled to be played Wednesday at home against Greene County’s Carson Middle School.
