Second Time’s A Charm for Winner

It was only her second time playing, and she took advice from her husband, Ben, but however she did it, Belle Perry correctly guessed the winner of 13 of the 15 games listed in last week’s Monticello News football contest, and she hit the tie-breaker on the nose.
She guessed 48 points would be scored in Piedmont’s fall to Brentwood, which ended 41-7.
For her effort, Mrs. Perry picked up a $25 prize from Tony Lewis at Lewis and Malone Heating and Air Conditioning, sponsor of the week.
One other player, David Wease, also got 13 right, but his tie-breaker guess was not as high as Mrs. Perry’s. However, he will have his name added to the grand prize honor roll as will Mrs. Perry and five others—Val Goolsby, Kristyn McElheney, Stone Workman, Jake Vaughn, and Dylan Nelson—who got 12 right.

This week offers a new challenge, but no high school games as both local schools are off Friday. It’s going to be a toughie, but whoever gets the most right will collect a $25 prize from Monticello Drugs and Dana Leach Realty, sponsors of the week. And, everyone who gets 12 or more right will have his or her name added to the grand prize honor roll for four tickets to the Chick-Fil-A/Peach Bowl in Atlanta on Monday, Jan. 1, 2018.
The contest is designed so anyone can win. On any given week, there are upsets and blowouts, and the contest player just has to figure out which it will be.
Remember, contest entrants must be at least five years old to play, and contest entries must be into The News office by 5 p.m. tomorrow, Sept. 29. Contest is on page 9 of today’s newspaper. Entries can be brought in person to 247 West Washington Street, faxed to 706-468-6576 or e-mailed to info@themonticellonews.com. Good Luck!
