Arthur Holderby Warner, Jr.

Arthur Holderby Warner, Jr., age 87, of Monticello, passed away Monday, October 9, 2017, at his residence.

Arthur Warner, lovingly known as “Sonny” and “Pop” was born in Atlanta, to the late Arthur Holderby Warner, Sr. and Maude Suana Plant Warner. He lived in Decatur for a number of years before moving to Monticello 22 years ago.

Mr. Warner was a member of the Loyal Order of Moose Lodge in McDonough since 1975 and the Monticello Presbyterian Church. He enjoyed gardening and playing the piano by ear. Before retirement, he worked for Auto Electric Supply building alternators and starters.

Along with his parents, he was preceded in death by his son, Glen Mark Warner and brother, Joseph Glen Warner.

He is survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Joyce Wilder Warner of Monticello; daughters, Shelby Gale Atkinson of Monticello, Patricia Lee (Craig) Elliott of Jackson and Janet Suanna (Kerry) Farmer of Monticello; grandchildren, Brannon Atkinson, Jesse Atkinson, Heather Stark, Joshua Flynn, Livia Johnston, Laina Johnston and Christopher Elliott; and great-grandchildren, Evelyn Atkinson, Savannah Atkinson, Noah Atkinson, Kailyn Atkinson, Connor Elliott, Taylor Watkins, Austin Whitley, Brooklyn Flynn, Alexis Stark, Ally Stark and Anthony Flynn.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at the Chapel of Jordan Funeral Home. Interment will be held at 2 p.m., Friday, Oct. 13, 2017, at Resthaven Garden of Memory 2284 Candler Road, Decatur, Ga. 30032. Gloria Farmer will officiate.

The family suggests in lieu of flowers donations be made to the American Cancer Society P. O. Box 22478, Oklahoma City, OK73123.

The family will receive friends from 5 until 7 p.m., Thursday, Oct. 12, 2017, at Jordan Funeral Home.
