Fashion Show Is Entertaining

The “Seniors on the Runway” fashion show Saturday featured many of Jasper County’s officials along with other seniors sporting their attire in formal, sporty, casual and professional categories in a fund raiser for the Jasper County Senior Center held at Jasper County High School.
Jasper County Commission Chairman Carl Pennamon modeled professional attire, while Commissioner Bruce Henry was dressed in camouflage for the sporty category. Also in the sporty category were Economic Development Authority Director David Dyer and his wife Jill who dressed as fishermen and Mrs. Dyer cast her line and caught Mr. Dyer. They were among the winners, but were not available for the photo.
Other winners included Arthurene Davis, Michelle Rizer-Poole, Larry and Betty Thurman and Walter Smith.
Other models included Nita Banks, Sandra Carter, Otis Clark, Hilda Daniel, Leonard Davis, Vernon Davis, Terry Glawson, Wonza Hargrove, Ella Joyce Heath, Melissa Horton, Annette Howard, Jimmy and Mary Lou Jordan and grandchildren, Don and Louise Kelly, Nathan Moss, Brenda Padgett, Joe Tripp, Jerry Wyatt and Joe Wynn.
Les Steele provided music for intermission, and Pat Standifer served as mistress of ceremonies.
During the course of the evening, the crowd sang Happy Birthday to Ollie Robinson, who will be 95 years old this week. She is the oldest regular attendee at the Jasper County Senior Center which profited from Saturday’s fashion show.
Senior Center Director Tracy Norton reminds everyone that anyone over 60 is welcome to come take part in the senior center activities. For more information, contact Mrs. Norton at 706-468-7507.
